Here as are some statements prepared by the candidates for the 2011 Executive board. We will update this posts as more statements come in.

Edie Ung- Candidate for Board President:

I am running for ESGS League President for 2011 because I feel I can provide benefits to the League with the knowledge and experience I have developed by volunteering on the ESGS Board in past years. In 2009, I was elected to the Player Agent position, but I also stepped up to become more involved with other Executive Board activities by performing some duties of the President when assistance was needed. This year, I took on the position as the 12U/14U Division Rep which involved working more with the team managers of those divisions, player evaluations, and drafts. Because I am already familiar with the operations of the league, I can provide leadership to ESGS for smooth normal operations which would allow time to focus on opportunities to make improvements to the league and to provide guidance to new members of the Board.

For those of you who don’t know me, I work full time outside of the home as well as being a single parent. My passion to be involved in activities that my daughter enjoys motivates me to make time to volunteers in organizations like ESGS, which is an important part of the El Segundo community.

I appreciate the fact that there are so many volunteer parents as well as other adults within the community that volunteer their time to ESGS to run the league and coach our children. This is my opportunity to continue to give back to the League.

Obe Aceves- Candidate for Board Secretary:

Dear families, friends and board members of ESGS,
My name is Obediah Aceves, everyone calls me Obe. I would greatly appreciate to be considered for the Secretary position with ESGS.  I have many skills that I can bring to the league but the utmost important value is my dedication.  I have been involved with various charities and committees over the past 15 years and have really enjoyed becoming a part of the ESGS community.
I believe in order to successfully manage any company, charity, or community event, one must be organized, hard working, detail oriented and most importantly dedicated.  I’ve been honored to represent those values and skills by participating in various charities including the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Santa Monica Little League, Santa Monica Girls Softball, Head-Start Parent Policy Council, several church functions and now ESGS.
With ESGS, it all started during Fall Ball. I just fell in love with the league. The structure, the way the games are conducted, the families…I can honestly say me and my family have been very fortunate to have found such a wonderful league. We enjoyed Fall Ball so much that my husband decided to coach and I became the Chaperone for our team. We are now very excited about All-Stars and just truly want to help in any way we can.
I truly appreciate how this league has put forth the interests of all the girls along with growing their skills and respecting the game. Being able to be part of that in any way possible is wonderful! I truly look forward to many more successful seasons to come and hopefully by doing so as the Secretary for ESGS.

Michelle Lawson- Candidate for Board Secretary:

My name is Michelle Lawson and I am running for secretary. I grew up in this town playing softball and now I am watching my daughter play. My daughter has played softball now for 4 years with ESGS. I have managed teams both in 6U and 8U and was a Team Parent this past season. In the past I have held secretarial positions for work and also with PTA at Richmond Street Elementary and other organizations. I truly enjoy the role of secretary and I am a very organized individual. I enjoy the tedious work of this position and feel that I would be a helpful addition to the board.
Most important, of course, I want to make sure our girls are taken care of and that they know we care about them and that we do all this work so that they can have fun, improve their skills and make some great friends. I know I have made some great friends in these past 4 years and have found spending time with the girls and improving their skills so much fun. Some great things were accomplished this past season and I would like to see this continue. Thank you so much for your consideration and hopefully your vote for secretary of the ESGS Board for next year. I am already excited about next season.
