President’s Message
Welcome to El Segundo Girls Softball 2010. I hope everyone is as excited as I am about the upcoming season. I am looking forward to a fantastic year. As always we will work hard to provide the best possible environment for the players and families that participate in our league.
It’s been a bit of a whirlwind since getting started. I now recognize how little I knew about the operation of our league; fortunately for me there are smart people around to help. We’ve had some good strategy sessions with the new Executive Board, we’ve recruited a strong team to complete the Board of Directors and we’ve established the dates to support Registration and the first portion of the season through evaluations and draft.
We are part of a very successful local softball program that includes ESGS and El Segundo High School. Softball is a high profile sport at El Segundo High and the majority of the girls playing came through our program. We’re the defending 14U District Champions. Our teams do well against our local rivals, and our girls have fun. I’m proud to be associated with this program. Personally, I’ve gotten far more out of this league than I’ve put in and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as President this year. I will do my best to make a positive contribution to our league.
Next on the agenda is finding the best managers and coaches we can. With roughly 25 teams we need 125 managers, coaches, chaperones, and team parents to run the season. These are critical positions where volunteers play a direct role in providing a positive, fun experience for the players in our league. If you are interested in volunteering for one of these positions contact a board member, we definitely want to hear from you. Any ideas, suggestions, or complaints, please send them our way. The intent of our new website is to keep everyone connected. We want everyone to stick around, let us know what you think, and let us know what role you want to play.
Sincerely,
Gary Truesdale
President
